My head has a smallish circumference and I wondered if anyone has been able to adjust it to make it much smaller?

There is a band inside with adjustable drawstring tie off,My wife has a smaller head as well, comfortable to wear all day!

How is this hat while sitting in a recliner if I wanted to read outside? Flexible enough to keep wearing?

Definitely flexible enough. Bends very easily and then goes right back into shape when in a different position. Love this hat for keeping the sun off my face and shoulders.

How fordable or crushable is it for packing on long hot trip with many times it will be stuffed in suitcase?

It folds flat and then pops back into shape. In my opinion, it’s definitely worth taking with you if you’re going to a hot climate.
